I’ve spent the last 30 years making my
living as an author but I almost didn’t
you see when I finished my first
manuscript I already knew that it could
be difficult to find a publisher so I
had a plan I thought what if I get the
names and addresses of every major
publisher in the english-speaking world
and send them a manuscript all at once
so I found sixty publishers I made sixty
copies of my manuscript and I went to
the post office
and I sent them out
and it seemed like a clever plan I mean
I thought of sixty publishers at least
ten are going to like it or three so how
many rejections do you think I got

sixty-one one guy wrote to me twice and
said forget it so I wrote another book
it was called being happy

and being happy was rejected by 17
publishers but published in number 18
sold 2.5 million copies
so you can meet an author who seems to
be doing okay you can meet a lady who’s
got an online business and she seems to
be flying it always looks good on the
outside but sometimes it’s hell on the
inside and you’ve got to push through
that so when it comes to your dream what
is it that you want to do you are
probably smarter than me
so you may not need to fail 78 times
maybe 50 failures would get me started
or 25 the question is have you tried
