lacking motivation 😔 I tore a ligament in my ankle (chatty vlog)

hello it’s Ruby and I’m going to be
sharing a day in my life where I am
recovering from an injury so I’m going
to be showing you all of the things I’m
doing to make sure that I recover
quickly
excuse the fact that my foot is great
this is my uncle
the other day when doing gymnastics at
home I managed to tear a ligament it’s
not a great through sprain it’s a great
two to three sprain I spoke with a
physiotherapist yesterday have been
given some advice and things to do until
I see her next week but basically it’s a
great two to three sprain which means
that I haven’t torn the ligament
entirely but I torn it quite badly so it
is really painful I can’t walk on it
which is a shame I yesterday I spent the
whole time the whole debt in the lounge
and I set everything up in the lounge
today I think I’m gonna set myself up in
my bedroom but I’m trying to be really
really sensible I say that it recovers
and as quickly as possible as okay what
I’m doing um it’s really infuriating
it’s a it’s currently quarter to ten and
I’ve only just woken up that is because
the main thing which I was recommended
to do is rest to make sure I’m getting a
few more hours than I usually would have
sleep I’ve got to say it’s really
strange for me because I like to wake up
early it’s also hard to get to sleep
early if you want if your body pot isn’t
used to it so I’m gonna gradually move
it back so I’m going to bed earlier I’m
waking up at the same time but at the
moment I’m waking up late I wake up at
6:30 and then I got myself to go back to
sleep the other thing is that I usually
wake up and immediately going to
exercise so I’ll go outside for maybe an
hour to two hours and do like an ab
workout trampolining stretching
gymnastics which is how I’ve really been
enjoying starting my day but obviously I
can’t do that so my daily routine isn’t
really disrupted that much when I just
substitute exercises asleep so I am NOT
going to attempt to get downstairs to
have breakfast and get up some porridge
the annoying thing is I’m hopping
everywhere because I can’t put any
weight on this foot but you know
anything is that my left leg has also
actually only recently recovered from an
injury his strained muscles it wasn’t
it’s not really bad at all but really
painful for me to hop at the moment so
I’m trying to just not move as much as
possible and because it’s up I have
ordered crutches because I don’t want
for this leg to get any more pain
say you can see that this foot is a lot
more swollen yay I rewrapped my foot in
compression tape so basically every
evening I’m loosening it so that it’s
slightly more breathable during the
night that’s what they advised and then
in the morning I’m tightening it so that
it reduces swelling and my mom’s just
grabbing me and I stack which was very
nice of her and I put that on 10 minutes
at the end of every kind of life okay so
at the moment I am working on doing some
freelance research walk I am currently
doing some research work for a film to
make sure it’s historically accurate so
I found another resource which looks
like it could be really useful so I’m
just going through this and I might add
to the research and send it back over so
as you can see I just propped my leg up
on the desk so that it was elevated and
then I did that freelance research work
and I also did some readings for
post-structuralism

okay I’m now gonna sit in bed for a
little bit because it’s getting
difficult like elevate ten to one which
means more ice okay I’m still sitting in
bed and I’m currently doing a master
class this is one by Alice Waters on
home cooking the art of home cooking and
it’s making me feel very inspired to do
some more kicking so I think I’m just
gonna do this next class which is on
making pantry essentials like things you
should always have in your fridge your
cupboard so I’m gonna watch this one
which is for 30 minutes I’m watchin
double speed so if you have 10 minutes
and then I’m gonna get to editing my
video it’s just going up tonight and I
still haven’t edited it so hopefully I
will get this done in time
I
have finished editing the video I wanted
to get edited and uploaded I have been
so unmotivated since hurting my uncle
and that’s kind of the reason I wanted
to film today because usually I mean I
would say that on the whole I am a very
like motivated person I’m really lucky
that I find it quite easy to get
motivated the last few days I have just
found it so so hard I’m utterly gutted
but this was happened mainly since
quarantine started and I’ve had all this
extra time and I’ve really tried to
channel that into your exercise and
getting fit and healthy but cares I mean
this year I think I’ve been exercising
enough but buying all for the majority
of my life I just haven’t really
exercised enough particularly as a
younger teenager suddenly me exercising
for like 2 to 5 hours a day and like
really actually enjoying it and being
excited to go on runs or go on a bike
ride or go on the trampoline do
gymnastics do an ab workout do a leg
workout arm workout that’s the kind of
thing I just didn’t enjoy before but I
really had started to enjoy it so the
fact that this ankle sprain came in at
death is just really Imperial I think
crutches coming tomorrow which I’m
really excited for like I don’t think
I’ve been more excited for a package
ever it hurts so much like I’m hopping
everywhere but as I said I’ve had like a
sports injury on my other leg recently
so hopping on it is not it’s absorbing
so much of the shock and that’s just I
don’t think it’s good for my leg and the
crutches come I’ll be able to go
downstairs and I’ll be able to cook
again and spend time doing other things
because being stuck in my room and
particularly being in bed I just find it
really really hard
I’m a big believer and I’ve always been
an advocate of working at a desk making
sure that you’ve got a direct study
space I’ve been able to do that today
and I think the fact that this has
happened has just really made me think
about the kind of like Pro activity tips
and study tips that i share have not
been entirely inclusive there are people
who can’t work in a desk and they have
to work somewhere else and I hadn’t met
I hadn’t made a point of that or
recognized that in old videos
I’m going to try and find a routine for
myself something that works something
that will help me to be productive and
motivated and I will share that journey
with you because the advice I’ve given
in the past isn’t entirely relevant in
every case and yes I’ve heard in points
this out I changed and I’m now wearing a
sports jacket I think it’s just me
trying to pretend to myself like I can
go and exercise even though I can’t but
I am actually going to try and do right
before dinner I don’t know when dinner
is I think dinner might be at 7:30 so at
7:00 I’m gonna go downstairs and do a
leg free workout and try and do some
kind of like maybe some ab exercises or
something
because I definitely don’t want to do no
exercise over the next few weeks we’ll
try that we’ll see if it works and I
will wear this when I do it and pretend
that I’m being super professional even
though it’s gonna be a really quick
workout yes as I said I have member
ducted today and that’s okay literally
yesterday I was like really haven’t been
reducted today you’ll be productive
tomorrow don’t worry but I’ve been less
productive today because yesterday I was
downstairs in the lounge and today I’m
just up in my room which isn’t walking
as well as they tomorrow I’m definitely
going to go downstairs again I am going
to do some more research work for
university because I think doing some
studying will get me in the right
mindset and I’m gonna go sit at my desk
and just elevate my leg on the desk as I
did earlier and then I am gonna sit down
and read and then go downstairs and do
some and walk out before dinner

so as I said here I was just doing some
more university work as with earlier
I’ve been focusing on doing some
secondary readings and more secondary
reading to add to my notes for
criticisms which I will then be able to
refer to during the 24 hour open book
exam so I hope this will be useful and
even if not it is extremely interesting
so today I was doing some research into
the brain when I was sitting down here

the book I’m trying to read online has
stopped working encountered a problem so
I might come back to this another time
it’s 7:30 8:00 dinner should be ready in
like 20 minutes I’m gonna go downstairs
and do some exercise
not actually unsurprisingly world I’m
also focusing on stretching the ankle
and leg leg you look lovely today can I
just say yeah I love your outfit it’s
very nice mom just made us the most
amazing mushroom risotto I wish I joined
I doesn’t show up on the video it was so
good though yeah we had one of that it
was safe so tasty we had it with spinach
and Jews too young now I’m going to do
some work downstairs because I don’t
want to crawl back upstairs and then dad
and I are gonna watch the rest of
Finding Neverland so I’m now sitting
downstairs the kitchen table and I’m
doing some more reading I I’m feeling a
lot more motivated now and raised yet
things done even though it’s late like
it’s closer to 9:00 and I saw they watch
film with my dad this evening I probably
will work on this for another 15 minutes
and then maybe I will write a little of
my book and then watch the film with dad
because we’ve already pretty much
finished we’ve watched half of it
already currently doing some reading on
the nori novel there I’m reading from
this book I just I’m using google books
so the book is called the elusive break
so I’m gonna work on that I just take
off my ice pack as well this is a really
handy one I’m not sure if this is
intended for your eyes like it looks
like it’s in the shape of an eyes but
because it’s a wraparound one it’s
really good for the ankle so I’ve been
using this when I haven’t got peas and
also the peas left a green stain on my
cushion which is really really so I was
just doing some more reading here and I
know I said I was going to write my book
after this but I kind of got carried
away with this research and reading and
by the time I’d finished it dad and I
decided we’re gonna watch the film so we
sat down to watch the rest – Finding
Neverland which was amazing by the way I
definitely recommend it but I hope that
you enjoyed this very chatty blog and I
