they’re probably thinking all
motivational speaker she’s going to talk
about things like gratitude and joy know
they’re going to quickly realize I’m not
always a poster child for motivation
sometimes I can be downright snippy all
these smart people in the room they’re
probably thinking oh she’s smart if
she’s a speaker she must know stuff now
yet I’m surrounded by a bunch of people
thought leaders people a lot smarter
than I am I mean my husband and she lays
awake at night pondering the mysteries
of the universe and I lay awake at night
wondering what happens to their tattoos
when big people lose weight I’m standing
up here once again wondering what if I’m
not good enough what if I don’t fit in
this room like I haven’t fit into any
room since I’ve been a kid what if I’m
the weird one the loud one what if they
don’t like my techniques what if they’re
like you’ve got to be kidding she’s
talking to herself in a mirror we hate
this what if it’s too different
what if they don’t like my message what
if I don’t challenge them enough what if
I challenge them too much what if
there’s too much story but there’s not
enough story what it’s like we didn’t
like the jokes what if I offend them are
you gonna miss this chance because
you’re afraid they won’t like it you’re
afraid of what you’ll look like don’t
make this about you your message is too
important this day is not about you this
is not a moment to get up here and tell
them what you can do this is for them
this is for you to get up here and tell
them what they can do
